Mega weekend for Lancefield

Lancefield hosted a range of activities at the weekend with people from far and wide enjoying the Farmers Market and Megafauna Festival on Saturday.

The day began with a bumper morning Farmers Market loaded with goodies from local producers. There were also hints of what was to come for the festival with displays spread around and volunteers on hand to chat to people about the upcoming activities.

The Extinct Lancefield Megafauna Festival celebrates the discovery of bones of megafauna at Lancefield and has been hugely popular each year with something for the whole family.

This year's event included Mount William Axe Quarry tours, expert talks on the latest megafauna research, children activities, tours of Camels Hump (Mount Macedon), an art exhibition, a musical tour of the park with the Kyneton Street Band, a bush tucker talk, mega dig puzzle and giant mural!

Lancefield brothers Seth and Dylan Kuhl made some discoveries to complete a megafauna puzzle. Their Siblings Casey and Edith were happy to help too.

Foster Stone joined in the mega bubble-making activity at the park. There was also a chance to create slime!

Peonies were certainly popular at the market last weekend, stallholder Marcus Ryan (filling in for Maggie) said they were "selling like wildfire". Marcus is pictured with happy customer, Lancefield's Babara Ralph. The peonies were grown at the Ryan family's Braewattie Winery property at Rochford.
