HAPPY RIDERS: Penny Gilbert with Lorraine and Graham from MASDAG and some enthusiastic bike riders are excited about celebrating riding on Ride to Play/Work/School Day on October 18.

You’re invited to come and celebrate riding a bike as a mode of transport with Ride to Play/Work/School Day on Wednesday, October 18.

Coordinated by Penny Gilbert from the Hub Foundation and CycleSafe Mount Alexander, the event will take place from 7am to 9pm at Winters Flat Primary School. There will be a free muffin and juice available, giveaways and entertainment and prizes for the best decorated bikes.

Ms Gilbert said the Ride 2 Work event had previously been held at the Hub Building in Castlemaine and had been just about riding to work but this year it was being expanded to Ride to Play/Work/School day.

“Winters Flat Primary School was chosen as the venue due to their success with sustainability awards,” Ms Gilbert said.

“We want to encourage people to ride to wherever they are going around our lovely town at least once a week.”

The Mount Alexander Shire Disability Advocacy Group is also involved in the event.

Lorraine Le Palstrier from MASDAG said she would be participating as a supporter of Ride 2 Work and was happy to be included as a user of access paths in the area.
