Piper Street eateries have reason to raise a glass following success of three of their own in the 2017 Gourmet Traveller Wine List of the Year Awards - Victoria.
Wine lists at La Bonta and Source Dining have each secured their two wine glass (out of three) status which is helping to raise the profile of one of Kyneton's most popular streets.
Both sommeliers agree that Kyneton's prime position meant easy access to some of the region's best wine producers which star in both lists alongside premium wines.
"It's nice to know that people in the industry appreciate our selection and like the breadth of local inclusion in our wine list," Source Dining's Tim Foster said.
The sommelier was praised for emphasising local wines among the 268 available and variety "considered and intuitively selected to cuisine and season".
LaBonta's list was similarly praised for "unearthing gems" across the region as well as some big names among its 206 selection.
Sommelier Tim Austin said he was grateful to be surrounded by fantastic strong regions and said the award recognition was the best kind of local boost.
"We don't view the awards as competition - it is not about how I compare to the guy down the street, it's about establishing this whole region as a drawcard," he said.
"I'm glad that people visit this area, have a great experience and want to return. You don't need to go to Melbourne for that - gone are those days."
La Bonta and Source Dining were no strangers to the awards but were delighted to be joined by awards newcomer and fellow Piper Street eatery Midnight Starling which received a one glass induction.
Judges enjoyed Midnight Starling's "pretty hip and savvy selection" with newer varieties that ideally dresses the dining experience and quality kitchen offering.
And the additions to Victoria's best wine list didn't stop at Kyneton's Piper Street for the Macedon Ranges.
Macedon Wine Room also toasted to receiving two wine glasses for its "wonderful breadth" of wines.
Colenso (Woodend) was awarded one wine glass for its compact 55 selections which judges said aimed for "quality over quantity" and had "many gems to enjoy".
Each of the wine glass recipients will be featured in the Gourmet Traveller Wine magazine and website.
