It is ironic that Marjorie Moore's letter ('Down the gurgler?', Opinions, July 4) expressing fears about the impact of "thousands of invaders" should appear in NAIDOC Week.
Far from bringing about the amazing list of non sequiturs and gloomy projections that she lists, the impact of immigrants on our economy and way of life is proven to be positive - and certainly nowhere near as disastrous as the impact our predecessors had on the life of the first peoples of this land.
As an immigrant myself, I wonder what distinguishes my 60-year contribution to this country from that of the refugee? And don't say "culture", or I'll choke on my chicken korma.
