A new search for evidence in the death of Karen Ristevski began today in the Mount Macedon area.
Police and emergency services will search areas including Childers Road, Mount Macedon Road, Waterfalls Road and Salisbury Road, Mount Macedon, following the route detectives believe may have been taken to the location where Ms Ristevski’s body was located in February.
Detectives have identified numerous calls to Crime Stoppers relating to observations of a Black Mercedes Benz in the Diggers Rest, Toolern Vale, Macedon and Mount Macedon on the day Ms Ristevski went missing.
Information given to investigators in recent days confirms the sighting of a black Mercedes Benz in the vicinity of Childers Road and Mount Macedon Road, Mount Macedon about midday on the day she went missing.
Further information from a witness indicates that a lone male was seen near the car.
Investigators have information that confirms a witness had reported the sighting prior to the discovery of Ms Ristevski's body, and therefore would have had no knowledge as to the location of her resting place.
The importance and potential veracity of the observation cannot be overstated.
The location is only about 1.5 km from where Ms Ristevski's body was ultimately discovered.
She was last seen at her Avondale Heights home on the morning of June 29, 2016.
Karen was located deceased in a bush location at Macedon on Monday, February 20, 2017.
Investigators are once again urging any person who may have been in the Mount Macedon areas, particularly in the vicinity of: the Macedon Regional Park, the Mount Macedon Golf Club, Mount Macedon Road, Salisbury Road, Waterfalls Road, Childers Road, and Loch Road, in the late morning or early afternoon on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 and who may have seen a black Mercedes Benz SLK coupe, fitted with Mercedes Benz manufactured five spoke alloy wheels, in these locations to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
