Riddell District Football League's long-serving president Alan 'Ollie' Matthews chalked up another milestone on Saturday when he umpired his 1400th game in the league.

A car accident ended his playing career in 1984, but he had a burning desire to still be involved and took up goal umpiring.

As he says: "The rest is history".

Riddell League operations manager Steve Williams described the 1400 games milestone as "a truly remarkable achievement" ... and Ollie shows no sign of hanging up the flags, and there's a good chance he could eventually reach the magical 1500 games mark.

Well done to a fine servant of the great Australian game.
