Mount Alexander residents once again dug deep donating thousands of dollars for this year's Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Local Country Fire Authority volunteers travelled the region last Friday collecting funds and various other volunteers organisations and businesses took up collections to help raise a total of $32,4151 from the shire.

This included: Baringhup Caravan Park $4500, Campbells Creek Fire Brigade $2360, Castlemaine Fire Brigade $15,942, Chewton Fire Brigade $2381, Elphinstone Fire Brigade $1155, Newstead Fire Brigade $3343, Railway Hotel Castlemaine $344 and Taradale Fire Brigade $2424.

In addition, the Castlemaine and District Junior Motocross Club held its annual Good Friday Appeal fundraiser. Last year the local club raised $3000 and this year's event surpassed that raising $3500!

There were many festivities throughout the day including an auction, raffle, Easter Egg hunt for the kids, plenty of race action and a $300 dash for cash race. The club would like to thank everyone who came along and helped make the day a success for this very worthy cause.

Good Friday Appeal honorary area manager Bill Maltby thanked all the dedicated collectors and the donors.

Victorians raised a record-breaking $17,605,662 in this year's appeal.
