This coming Sunday, an Edwardian-themed Picnic in the Park will be held at the Kyneton Botanic Gardens.
The event will be hosted to unveil and celebrate the master plan for the proposed Kyneton Community Park.
A host of fun-filled activities are organised for the Picnic in the Park, all free of charge.
"There will be an Edwardian Cream Tea, a sausage sizzle, old-fashioned children's games, face painting, story-telling and historical displays," Kyneton Community Park Inc. (KCPI) vice-president, Amy Cockroft said.
"The Kyneton Municipal Brass Band and the inaugural Kyneton Tug-of-War challenge will provide an entertaining highlight."Come rain, hail or shine this fabulous event will be a great day out for the family and we urge everyone to come along to show their support."
State Labor MP, Geoff Howard and federal Labor candidate, Lisa Chesters, will attend the event.
"It's important we get as many locals as possible to show their support as significant funding is needed to see the park built," Ms Cockroft said.
The Kyneton Community Park master plan, which will be on display this Sunday, was developed by award-winning landscape architect, Andrew Laidlaw of Laidlaw & Laidlaw Design. Mr Laidlaw has a slew of award-winning projects under his belt including the much-loved children's garden at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne.
"It creates a beautiful and interesting park for locals of all ages to enjoy as well as a unique and iconic attraction for the district and beyond," Ms Cockroft said.
Ms Cockroft said the master plan ensures Kyneton Community Park will be a well-used space that locals of all generations can enjoy and explore, while restoring the botanic garden's historical pride of place in Kyneton.
"The design will include a playground, fitness circuit, barbecues and sheltered picnic areas as well as information about Kyneton's history and natural environment," she said.
"The play equipment features great attractions for older children as well as toddlers. There are giant swings as well as a gentle waterway through the centre of the playground and perennial herb garden for quiet, reflective play."
"This is a brilliantly designed park and its unveiling at our Picnic in the Park is a fantastic opportunity for locals to see it for themselves."
The Picnic in the Park will run from 10am until 2pm, in the lower section of the Kyneton Botanic Gardens. All welcome.
